Footprints Announces Release of FootRunner(tm) v5.0.4, 4th Dimension
Inline Code Intepreter Plug-In
(Moab, UT, October 19, 2004) Footprints, Inc. today announced it has
released FootRunner(tm) v5.0.4, the first version of the widely used
4th Dimension(R) inline code interpreter tested as compatible with 4D
2004. Updated since it was first released in 1994, the FootRunner 5
plug-in permits developers of custom 4th Dimension applications to
execute text files containing 4D code from within compiled 4D
applications.
* Changes from v5.0.3 to v5.0.4
-- 4D 2004 compatible, as well as compatible with 4D 2003, v6.8, v6.7,
v6.5, and v6.0.
-- 4D 2003.4 and 4D 2004 introduced a change in the method editor
wherein tabs are used to indent Case statements. The FootRunner
interpreter now acknowledges the existence of these tabs.

The latest version of FootRunner, v5.0.4, is now available for free
downloading by the 4D developer community. Follow the FootRunner links

* About FootRunner 5
FootRunner 5 includes support for local variables, parameter passing (9
maximum) and the ability to execute 4D code embedded within HTML pages.
The FootRunner 5 plug-in package, when installed in a custom 4th
Dimension database application, enables programmers to create
executable 4th Dimension method files which can be saved to disk (or as
data in the database) and executed later. Once created, these files can
be transmitted and executed directly by any other 4th Dimension
application containing the FootRunner 5 plug-in. FootRunner 5 is
compatible with all versions of 4th Dimension from v6.0 up to the
current release and is available for Macintosh and Windows.
An updated developer manual describes the new functionality. It
includes numerous suggestions and sample code to whet the developer's
appetite for practical use of FootRunner 5, each based on Footprints'
own experience in developing and supporting its clients' custom
information systems.
